Oxford Centre for Diabetes Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM), Churchill Hospital, Old Road, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7LE
Grade 8: £48,235 - £55,636 per annum
We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Associate to work within a vibrant research team headed by David Ray and Rebecca Richmond at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM) on studies related to circadian rhythms in population health. This post is part of a large, interdisciplinary research programme, offering attractive opportunities to work across conventional boundaries and pursue hypothesis-led science.
The work will be exclusively in-silico analysis of human rhythmic behaviour, including sleep and chronotype, and cardiometabolic disease. We will use publicly available data and apply causal inference methods, including Mendelian randomisation, to identify candidate mechanisms linking circadian misalignment and sleep disturbances with cardiometabolic disease.
The successful applicant will join an established multidisciplinary research team, undertaking and directing the research day to day whilst also supervising both technical staff and graduate research students attached to the project.
The successful applicant must hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject. They must have peer-reviewed publications using data science approaches, for example, genetic analysis, including Mendelian randomisation and genetic co-localisation approaches, epidemiological analysis of UK Biobank data, and an interest in sleep and cardiometabolic disease. They will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes.
The position, funded by a new MRC programme grant, is full-time for three years in the first instance. The position will be based at OCDEM, Churchill Hospital, Headington, Oxford.
For informal enquiries, please contact Ruby Ramsamy at
ocdem.personnel@ndm.ox.ac.uk. Please quote the job reference (

w/c 2nd June 2025.
