This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the successful and highly regarded library service at Birmingham Newman University.
You will oversee and enhance our library's front-line services. You will lead a small team of Library Service Advisors and Library Shelving Assistants to deliver exceptional service to our diverse and vibrant community. You will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the student experience, maintaining a welcoming and functional library environment, and fostering a staff culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage, recruit, train, and develop a dedicated team of Library Service Advisors and Shelving Assistants.
- Customer Service: Champion high standards of customer care, leading by example to provide an excellent experience for students and acting as the first point of contact for concerns or complaints.
- Operational Oversight: Ensure smooth workflows and maintain optimal staff coverage during library opening hours.
- Library Environment: Maintain a safe and attractive study space in partnership with internal teams like Estates, IT Services, and Security.
- Project Work: Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives to innovate and introduce new services and technologies that will benefit the student experience.
About You:
No prior experience of working in a library is required, but the successful candidate must have strong customer service and people management skills alongside a good level of literacy, administrative skills, and IT skills.
