The role

Applications are invited for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations (teaching track) within the School of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences. The appointee will join a vigorous and lively academic community in an internationally recognised University with established strengths in the social sciences and humanities. 

This post is permanent (due to commence in August 2025 or soon thereafter), and the post holder is expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate modules, either as a module leader or as part of a teaching team. They are also expected to participate in academic life through management and administration.  

The post holder will contribute to our existing module portfolio, complement our existing research themes and have the potential to collaborate with colleagues, particularly in the areas of:

-           International relations

-           Foreign policy, security and defence

-           Conflict and war

-           Development

-           International political economy. 

About you

The successful candidate will also have experience in undergraduate supervision, university administration, hybrid learning & teaching methods, and will have obtained a PhD in Politics, International Relations or related field. 

The successful candidate will be contributing to the development of the new L&T strategy of Politics and International Relations within the School of Social Sciences and will be expected to work towards higher qualifications within L&T, to assume later curriculum and programme management roles.
