We need an excellent candidate to lead and develop a specialist team that is responsible for developing UK, European and International grant funded projects to support the university’s R&E ambitions and income generation in the university's Faculties and Departments. You will take responsibility for staff development, and training within the team, ensuring all staff have the necessary skills and experience to provide the support required alongside devising, managing, supporting and monitoring the delivery of a suite of training and development opportunities for university staff related to R&E income generation and bidding.
You will devise and implement strategies to increase success rates for key funders, manage all pre-award processes and take responsibility for reporting on pre-award activity. This will include facilitating opportunities to encourage cross-university working.
You will personally lead on strategic, high-risk projects, including developing and writing bids for the Offices of the Vice Chancellor as required, mentoring others in the team to share knowledge and experience.
We are looking for someone with a high level of emotional intelligence who has the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff at all levels across the University to ensure quality service delivery, demonstrating political awareness, diplomacy and tact. You will need proven experience of managing and motivating a team; outstanding leadership skills; a proven track record of supporting and writing successful strategic applications to R&E funders relevant to Higher Education; a proven ability to develop and implement successful and efficient policies and procedures alongside enthusiasm and evidence of a proactive approach to continuous service improvement and opportunity generation.
