At the Royal Docks School of Business and Law in the University of East London (UEL), the Department of Innovation and Management (I&M) is looking to appoint several external examiners to cover its undergraduate and postgraduate provision. 

Subjects include:

  • Events Management
  • Hospitality
  • Tourism

We would like to receive applications from UK-based practitioners and academic colleagues in these areas who have expertise/experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, experience as a professional practitioner is desirable, experience in online delivery is desirable, and previous experience as an external examiner is desirable but not essential.   

If you have completed the Advanced HE External Examiners Course, that would be an advantage.

We also cannot accept applications from those who have been employed by UEL within the last five years.

Proof of eligibility to work in the UK will need to be provided before an appointment can be confirmed.

You will be joining a university recognised for its teaching quality and student experience (University of the Year for Teaching Quality in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025; 3rd nationally in the National Student Survey 2024).  The school has recently been accredited by the Small Business Charter (SBC), and this year UEL has been shortlisted for the Academic Employability Awards (Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, and University of the Year for its institutional Graduate Employability Framework).
