EDA-N04 - Media Technician – Digital Media

We are looking to recruit a Part-time Media Technician (22.2 hrs per week) to support our School of Creative Performance and Production and its wide-ranging provision.  This is a broad and varied role and will require the need to work closely with academic colleagues across the school and within the Faculty of Education and the Arts, as well as with its various stakeholders both across the University and externally.

As a part-time Media Technician you will be responsible for the provision of technical support and instruction for students for various programmes within the faculty, with a particular focus towards digital media and immersive technology provision.  It will be an advantage to have other skill areas to support the school’s course teams generally, including theatre technical abilities.

The ideal candidate will be educated to A Level standard and be in possession of comprehensive media training courses related to digital media and immersive technologies; as well as experience of providing technical media support within an HE/professional context or training/coaching experience.   The technician will be responsible for various equipment such as 3D Printer and Laser cutter and the maintaining of these.  Experience of using such equipment will be essential as will the relevant use of health and safety protocols.

Ability to work within a team and independently across the various programmes, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to new technologies, and flexibility to support the work of the course teams will be key.

This post will be joining our current technical team who have a focus on music, film and media and theatre production.
