We are recruiting an experienced Director of Legal Services and Data Protection Officer (DPO) to provide leadership of the Legal Services Team and to provide expert advice on legal and information governance matters to the University.

We are looking for an experienced Solicitor or CILEX with information governance expertise who can clearly communicate and advise on the legal, compliance and data privacy requirements of the University to support delivery of its strategic objectives and protect the interests of the University’s data subjects.

Reporting to the University Secretary, and working as part of the University’s Senior Leadership Team, this role is pivotal to ensuring compliance with legal and data protection requirements relevant to a higher education corporation.

With leadership responsibility for a small specialist team of solicitors, legal advisors and information governance advisors, this role is critical to shaping the legal and data protection strategy for the university.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.


If you are currently a member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), you can choose to opt out of the LGPS and remain in the USS.  Please
