About the Role

The Clinical Lecturer / Clinical Senior Lecturer* will contribute to the intellectual life of the Institute and wider institution. Depending on stage and level, the postholder would be expected to develop a programme of multiple sclerosis research, focusing on social determinants of health. This could include gender-specific factors, and/or factors related to other social determinants including deprivation, ethnicity, education, and social circumstances. They will be expected to submit a clear research proposal to cover at least the first three years of the fellowship and apply for additional research funding to grow this programme of research over the period of the fellowship. The aim is to enable those at the early stages of their research career to grow as independent researcher.

The clinical part of the role is not funded within this post, but it is essential that the appointee holds a clinical post alongside the academic work of at least 0.2 FTE.

About You

At CL level, this role is suited to a candidate working at Registrar level in Neurology within an approved training scheme (or via equivalent local employment) and a CCT date within 2 years at most recent ARCP.

At SCL level, this role is suited to a candidate working at Consultant level with a CCT in Neurology or equivalent, gained within the past 5 years.

The successful candidate must have GMC registration, and an MD or PhD awarded in MS or a related field and / or equivalent professional experience.

About the Centre

This post is within the Centre for Preventive Neurology (CPN), based within the Wolfson Institute of Population Health. The CPN is a dynamic and rapidly growing research group and focuses on disease determinants, early detection, and health inequalities across neurological disease. In the seven years since it was founded, the CPN has grown substantially, with over 40 members of staff working across diseases and academic disciplines.

The post is based in Whitechapel / Charterhouse Square. It is part time (20 hours per week), fixed term contract for 4 years, with the possibility of being made permanent subject to meeting academic performance standards and securing further funding.
