Applications are invited for the new post of Assistant Professor to join a vibrant team to develop the New MPhil in the Foundations of Clinical Psychology. This post is within the University of Cambridge Department of Psychiatry, and the successful applicant will take up the appointment on 1st September 2025.  The role would initially be for thirteen months with the possibility of extension dependent on the success of the course. 

This new post will play a key role in the delivery of the academic and research components of the MPhil Foundations of Clinical Psychology and contributing to the wider research profile of the school, as outlined in the main activities below. 

The Assistant Professor will be required to undertake teaching, supervision and research duties as assigned by Course Director and Head of Department. The field of research will be determined by the successful applicant in discussion with the Head of Department, Professor Tamsin Ford. The job responsibilities are divided approximately as 35% Teaching/Assessment; 35% Tutorials and Supervision; 20% Research; 5% Management; 5% Admission/Committee spread throughout the academic year.

Applicants should have a PhD in applied or experimental psychology and experience of postdoctoral research in fields related to mental health and clinical / public health. Clinical qualification and direct clinical experience are not necessary, and this post will not attract clinical salary pay scales.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 13 months in the first instance.
