The Functional Genomics Center Zurich (FGCZ) is an interdisciplinary research and training center of the University of Zurich and the ETH Zurich. We support life science research with state of the art technologies for genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics as well as by high-end bioinformatics analysis. The successful applicant will be part of the Genomics Unit that supports the latest next generation (NGS) and single molecule sequencing methods and strategies, and provides services and training to the research groups accessing the center.

Job description
This position is a joint appointment between the FGCZ Genomics Unit and the Lab of Jacob Corn of the ETHZ. Responsibilities within the FGCZ include supporting NGS protocols in genome engineering, engaging in project discussions and experimental planning with research groups at ETH and UZH, and providing training and instruction for PhD students. The successful candidate is expected to independently manage entire workflows, from project conception to execution, while also contributing to data interpretation in collaboration with the FGCZ Genome Bioinformatics team.
Profile
The ideal candidate disposes of a PhD or MS in molecular biology or a related field, has a deep knowledge of cell biology, demonstrated project management and communication skills, plus a keen interest in latest genomics technologies and their application in one of biology’s fastest progressing fields. Practical experience in working in an NGS core facility and genome engineering is an advantage. The successful candidate should be highly team-oriented, highly motivated, flexible, organized, adaptable and thrive in environments with minimal supervision. Advanced knowledge of English is essential, as this is the working language of the center. Candidates should already hold a valid Swiss residency permit.
