The Department of Software Engineering is well-recognized internationally for its research and educational environment. Our main strength is the focus on industry-relevant empirical research in close collaboration with industry. BTH's research in software engineering, as well as many of the department's researchers, are top-ranked internationally.
Work description
The employment mainly comprises empirical research in close collaboration with industry on practical problems within the context of large-scale software development.
The work tasks require (a) a solid technical background in using relevant tools and techniques to collect and analyze data from software development processes and environments and (b) experience with qualitative and quantitative methods for analyzing large datasets comprising structured and unstructured data.
A suitable candidate should, furthermore, have experience in one or more of the following areas: Software architecture, inner source software development, software security, or continuous software engineering. Other areas within empirical software engineering can be considered if the candidate has exceptional merits.
Up to 20% of the total work time may be related to other tasks than research, e.g., teaching. The teaching may include the supervision of doctoral students as a part of career development. The applicant is expected to actively participate in the department's research and educational activities.
Great importance is placed on strong interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
Eligibility requirements
Eligible to be employed as a postdoctor is a person who has been awarded a doctoral degree or has a foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree.
This requirement must be met at the latest at the time when the employment decision is made.
Preference should be given to applicants who have been awarded their doctoral degree at most three years before the application deadline for the employment. Applicants who have been awarded their degree earlier can be considered for the employment if special reasons exist. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances.

Meriting competencies and experience
In addition to the requirements described in the work description, eligibility requirements and assessment criteria for the position, the following degrees, competencies and experiences are considered meriting:
- Professional experience in software development in the industry.
- Publications in highly ranked international conferences or journals in software engineering.
- High proficiency in written and oral communication in English.
- Good communication and collaboration skills with students and colleagues.
Place of employment: Karlskrona.
Employment level: 100%.
Duration: Temporary employment for 2-3 years, with the possibility of extension. The total period of employment must not exceed three years.
Commencement: To be agreed.
