Offer Description

We are seeking to recruit a researcher (with PhD) for the YOUth project Debunking the gendered Arguments of faro-Right Extremism YOU-DARE (2025-2028), HORIZON-CL2-2024-DEMOCRACY-01-05 European Commission of the Arts and Humanities Studies.

 

The aim of the project is, through an interdisciplinary and participatory approach, to dissect the gendered foundations of far-right youth groups by examining the roles of youth leaders and the digital platforms that amplify their messages. The project offers a detailed evidence-based insights on the democratic challenges posed by these movements and proposes targeted strategies for intervention, policy approaches and pratical tools for policymakers and practitioners to address the underlying roots of violent, discriminatory and illiberal political discourse in online spaces.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Research on the state of the art and elaboration of a mapping of gender and extreme right in Spain (actors and leaders, discourses, controversies, opposing policies and actors). 
  • Elaboration of interactive visualisations.
  • Data collection, grounded research and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data: online and offline fieldwork to identify actors, controversies, mainstreaming policies and deradicalisation agencies in Spain.
  • Development of a comparative overview of all countries participating in the project.
  • Open Policy Labs and participation in a prevention toolkit.
  • Participation in the communication, dissemination and exploitation of the results.
  • Elaboration of a project manual.

 

The successful candidate will be awarded atemporary contract until 31 January 2028, at 65% of full time, starting in March.

 

The reference headquarters will be located at 22@, Rambla del Poblenou, 156, in Barcelona. However, at the UOC we work with an open work model that combines teleworking with face-to-face work, depending on organisational needs and the nature of the tasks.

Specific Requirements

What kind of profile are we looking for?

 

  • PhD in Human and Social Sciences with expertise in ethnographic research methods.
  • At least 3 years' experience performing tasks similar to those offered.
  • Proficiency in visualisation software.
  • Expert knowledge of qualitative and particularly ethnographic research techniques.
  • Expert knowledge of the far-right field in Spain.
  • Expert knowledge of visual analysis techniques.
  • Mastery of tools for qualitative data analysis (MAXQDA, NVivo) and, where appropriate, quantitative tools.
  • Basic computer tools.
  • High verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
