Job position 

1 Research Support Technician to work on an ERC research project with a duration of five years (WHOCOUNTS).

The selected candidates will collaborate with the Principal Investigator (Dr. Daniel Edmiston) and the postdoctoral research team (Dr. Joaquín Alcañiz Colomer, Dr. Laman Orujova, Dr. Íñigo Aldama, and Dr. Violetta Tucci) to support literature review, data analysis, and research on a non-trivial minority of the European population that is currently "missing" from income surveys used to construct official poverty and disadvantage statistics.
The project will be carried out at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) – the top University in Spain according to the QS World Rankings 2023 – which offers excellent facilities and opportunities for career development. You will be based in the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology and affiliated to the Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP).

The successful candidates will preferably start in April 2025 depending on their availability and residency status. The post is available for 4 months with a dedication of 10 hours per week. The successful technician will benefit from an excellent research environment.

Job position requirements (skills/languages/required experience)

Specific Functions
- Provide data for analysis and interpretation.
- Participate in the development of studies.
- Provide data for the preparation of technical or scientific reports.
- Apply specific techniques in accordance with established protocols.
- Undertake literatura reviews, secondary data colletion and descriptive statistics on poverty, públic spending and the non-private household population.

Generic Functions
- Advise, inform, and provide support to users within their area of responsibility.
- Identify user needs.
- Suggest improvements to procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations within their area of responsibility.
- Coordinate within their field.
- Execute support processes and procedures.

Skills
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively as part of a larger project team.
- Academic interests in poverty, social policy
- International work experience to support comparative analysis
- Strong applied background in social welfare-related work and policy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Strong written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to effectively collaborate with the project team.

Benefits 

Gross Salary €8,861.66 and Social Security

•Academic Record – 40 points
- Degree in the relevant field. 40 points, Generic degree. 15 points
- Higher Vocational Training (CFGS) in the relevant field: 25 points Generic Higher Vocational Training (CFGS) 10 points
•Languages – 10 pointsEnglish B2: 5 points, English C1 or higher: 10 points
•IT Skills – 5 points
- Advanced knowledge in applying quantitative methods in social sciences, using statistical software such as STATA, R, and SPSS. 5 points
•Experience – 35 points
- More than 5 years: 35 points, Less than 5 years: 20 points
•Motivation Letter – 10 points
