Offer Description

We are seeking to recruit a junior researcher for the KISON group of the IN3.

The aim of the project is to specifically address the issue of innovative systems for security analysis of Yate devices. The growing popularity of Yate devices in homes and business environments has led to increased concerns about the security of these systems. Yate devices, such as sensors and wearables, are often very simple and do not have effective security measures in place. This makes them vulnerable to attacks, which can have serious privacy and security implications, as once an attacker gains access to a home or industrial network, they can execute further attacks as an internal network node on all other connected devices. To address this concern, in this project we will develop systems for detection, analysis and identification of attacks in Yacht environments. These systems use artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to continuously monitor and analyse network traffic from devices. By identifying suspicious patterns or anomalous behaviour, these systems can take preventive measures, such as blocking malicious traffic or alerting the user. In addition, Yate device security analytics systems can also provide greater visibility and control of connected devices, enabling more effective and efficient security management.

Responsibilities:

  • Determine the balance between fragility and robustness of watermarks: Develop methods to adjust the fragility of watermarks in speech, allowing to control the level of sensitivity to different types of modifications (compression, filtering, etc.).
  • Assess robustness to specific attacks: Analyse the resistance of fragile and semi-fragile watermarks to attacks aimed at removing or altering them, such as watermark estimation and forgery.
  • Combine fragile and robust watermarks. Explore the possibility of combining fragile watermarking with robust watermarking to provide both counterfeit detection and intellectual property protection.
  • Integrate blockchain. Investigate the integration of blockchain technology to record and verify the integrity of watermarks and associated media content, ensuring traceability and non-repudiation.

The successful candidate will be awarded a temporary contract, full time, until 31st December 2025 starting in February

The reference headquarters will be located at 22@, Rambla del Poblenou, 156, in Barcelona. However, at the UOC we work with an open work model that combines teleworking with face-to-face work, depending on organisational needs and the nature of the tasks.
