Job position:
Part-time post doctoral researcher in the IMBRACE project
Job position requirements (skills/languages/required experience):
Research for this position will include textual content and discourse analysis of local and sub-national policy documents (legislatures, reports, plans, policy frameworks), from 21 EU-27 cities, including the project’s 6 case study cities (Barcelona, Athens, Dublin, Berlin, Antwerp, Marseilles), to provide a large-scale detailed and critical analysis on urban climate-related health adaptation policy. The researcher is also to organize, conduct and analyse 10 in-depth interviews with policymakers from the 6 case study cities working on issues of climate adaptation, participatory decision-making, immigration integration, public health, and urban planning. The successful candidate will also assist and collaborate in the analysis of qualitative results generated by other researchers through other methods, to produce high quality publications in academic journals and popular media. They will be supported in their travel to conferences and other related events.
The position requires a PhD in sociology, human geography, political ecology, urban studies, or related fields, with a strong background in environmental justice. Previous work with immigrants or racialized communities will be considered a plus. Expertise in participatory research methodologies will also be highly valued.
We seek candidates with at least 3 years after their PhD, with a track record of research publications in high quality international academic journals and press, and with a strong commitment to collaborative, supportive, inclusive and equity-based work ethics.
Benefits
• Salary: 18,000 € gross annual salary, flexible work-time, 19h/week
• Starting date: May 2025
Eligibility criteria
S/he is expected to be knowledgeable about working within international teams, and in collaborative projects, and ideally on topics related to urban environments, housing, migrant populations, environmental justice, and with experience in participatory methods.
An excellent publication record relative to career stage, in highly regarded publication outlets in the fields of urban studies and environmental humanities.
Availability to travel for project-related activities (workshops, conferences etc.)
Ability and commitment to work both independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary and international team.
Excellent knowlegde of English, Spanish and/or Catalan.
