Offer Description

Are you passionate about climate science and its impact on the future of our planet? We are seeking a dynamic and motivated post-doctoral researcher to join the innovative CLIMEX project (Climate Influences on Extreme Sea-Level Events) at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in beautiful Majorca. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of cutting-edge research that directly tackles the pressing challenges of climate change and sea-level extremes in the mid-latitudes.

The contract will run for 13 months although it may be extended for a further six (to be confirmed).

What you’ll do:
• Contribute to pioneering research focused on understanding how climate change impacts the frequency and intensity of sea-level extremes in the mid-latitudes
• Quantify the relative contributions of sea-level rise and changes in storminess to these extreme events, using stateof-the-art Bayesian hierarchical models and artificial intelligence techniques
• Analyse sets of climate model simulations to uncover crucial insights into the link between climate change and extreme event occurrences
• Publish high-impact research findings in leading journals and present your work at national and international conferences, gaining recognition within the scientific community.

Why join us:

• You will be part of a vibrant and collaborative research environment in the UIB’s Sea Level and Marine Climate Research Group, whilst also working closely with experts at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA)
• You will have the chance to expand your skills in climate science and contribute to the future of climate resilience
• You will have access to a supportive network of researchers who will help you develop your skills and career further.
