The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 12-month contract at the Psychology and Child & Human Development Department.

Project Title: Building Human Capacity in Singapore’s Population: A National Longitudinal Study of Child and Maternal Well-being [RI 2/24 CHS]

Project Introduction: This project looks into the development and testing of an integrated parenting and social skills intervention programme to foster better social-emotional and self-regulation skills among children age 3 to 6. The project involves a four-arm randomized controlled trial involving parents and preschool children. 

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree with a specialization in psychology or a related field.
  • Good knowledge of child development theories.
  • Prior experience working in a research setting involving families and children is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; being able to be an effective liaison person for contacting families, and to lead and train a team of student assistants in fieldwork and data collection.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out participant recruitment for the project.
  • Manage the data collection schedule for the research team.
  • Participate in the training of student research assistants.
  • Carry out fieldwork, data coding, and analysis.
  • Participate in manuscript preparation and dissemination of study findings.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator
