The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. The School, which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes, is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in partnership with Imperial College London, LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research. The School’s primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group, a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise, facilities and teaching. The School is transitioning to an NTU medical school ahead of the 2028 successful conclusion of the NTU-Imperial partnership to set up a Joint Medical School. In August 2024, we welcomed our first intake of the NTU MBBS programme, that has been recently enhanced to include themes like precision medicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, with an expanded scope in the medical humanities. Graduates from the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine, with an emphasis on technology, data science and the humanities.

We are currently recruiting an Assistant Manager who will join the Researcher Development Unit of the Research Administration and Support Services. This is a new unit that is established to support young researchers and postdoctoral fellows in the development of their scientific and academic career. You will manage the key research administration activities of this unit to ensure the smooth operation and execution of this unit.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the pre-award activities of postdoctoral fellowship grants from grant call to award such as announcement blasts, reviewing of applications, budget scrubbing.

  • Manage the post-award activities of postdoctoral fellowship grants, verifying availability of funds, budget loading, variation request, project extensions, checking progress reports, final report and account closure.

  • Perform annual budgeting for the postdoctoral fellowship grants and monitor budget utilization to ensure that budget is properly utilized.

  • Perform eligibility checks for the applicants of the fellowship grant calls to ensure adherence to the terms and requirements of the grant.

  • Manage the internal and external fellowship grants applications to facilitate the eligibility checks, review, shortlisting, interview of candidates and endorsement.

  • Liaise with stakeholders such as Principal Investigators, research staff and various departments and units.

  • Comply with the annual audit and compliance exercises, ensuring that the grant administrative processes are properly adhered to and well documented.

  • Arrange regular team and project meetings and detailed recording of minutes and following up actively with the action items.

  • Update the research project records and databases regularly so as to ensure accurate update of records of the applicants and awardees of the fellowship grants.

  • Manage the logistics for events such as seminars, workshops, symposium.

  • Any other ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in any field

  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience in research grant management with an academic institution

  • Meticulous, detail oriented and strong in numbers

  • Able to work independently as well as in a team

  • Able to learn fast, pick up new skills and has a growth mindset.

  • Able to multi-task and comfortable with meeting tight deadlines

  • Possess excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
