Overview

The Diéguez research group is focused on the development of technologies for the understanding and diagnosis of diseases in close collaboration with the clinic towards the realisation of precision medicine. For this, we focus on the development of tools and solutions based on microfluidics, biosensors and nanotechnology.

We are looking for a Research Assistant to join our team in the Extracellular vesicles with biomarkers for metabolic diseases and chronic inflammation associated diseases project of the Health from Portugal Agenda under the PRR framework.

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

Cell culture;Generation of extracellular vesicles (EVs);Design of strategies for the isolation of EVs;Design of strategies for the analysis and characterisation of biomarkers from EVs;Experimental planning and execution;Day to day lab operations. 

Mandatory Qualifications

Education

MSc degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or any other related field. 

Experience and Technical Skills

1 year experience in cell culture;1 year experience in EVs generation;1 year experience in EVs isolation, such as Ultracentrifugation, Size Exclusion Chromatography, Ultrafiltration, and Precipitation Agents;1 year experience in EVs characterisation (i.e., Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis, Bicinchoninic acid protein assay, DNA/RNA extraction kits, and Electron Microscopy). 

Other Valued Skills

Experience in DNA/RNA characterisation;Experience in biomarker assessment;Experience in protein profiling, such as Western Blotting.Personal Skills

How the Selection Process works

A. Applications eligibility check

D. Nomination
