Te āheinga: The opportunity

You will be working with students enrolled in our Supported Learning programme. As a Tutorial Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate quality educational outcomes. This role is pivotal in our commitment to providing an enriching learning environment for our students.

Your duties will encompass providing tutorial assistance, events and alumni connections, liaising with academic staff to understand the specific learning needs and objectives of our students and support the Programme Coordinator. You will be instrumental in providing learning support to students, tailored to their individual needs and learning styles. This includes both group and individual tuition, ensuring that each student receives the attention they need to thrive.

This is a permanent part time role with a weekly commitment of 30 hours.

You'll have:

  • An understanding or desire to learn te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
  • Tertiary qualification in the relevant subject area/s of discipline or relevant industry experience.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with learners.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to different learning styles.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Experience with online teaching platforms and digital learning tools.
  • Familiarity with current industry trends and developments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to help learners overcome academic challenges.
  • Passion for lifelong learning and the subject matter.
