The role/Te mahi

Under contract to the Ministry of Education, learning area assessments for the Curriculum Insights and Progress Study will be conducted during Term 3 of the 2025 school year in 160 randomly-selected schools across Aotearoa New Zealand.

EARU employs teachers from across New Zealand to administer the programme, over a ten week period. In 2025, the programme will commence with a one week training programme in Wellington (14-18 July), followed by nine weeks of school visits.

Teacher Researchers will work in pairs and depending on the area, may be required to undertake substantial travel away from home, with regular trips for up to a week at a time (travel expenses are covered).

This year, the study will be assessing Year 3, Year 6 and Year 8 students in the arts and technology.

Teacher Researchers will be either seconded from their school for the 10 week period or employed on a fixed-term contract with the University of Otago.

Working alongside our team to implement the assessment programme is a great PLD opportunity and applications are now open for effective and committed teachers nationwide.
