Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Ecology (HZAU)

Teach, research & collaborate internationally between Lincoln University & Huazhong Agricultural University in China.

Mō te tūka | The role

We're looking for a dedicated academic with a passion for ecology and conservation to join our Department of Pest-management and Conservation. We have been producing high quality ecology students for over 50 years. Help us to do this in an international setting.

You'll engage in high-quality research, deliver inspiring teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and play a key role in our international partnership with Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, China. This unique opportunity combines academic excellence with international collaboration and student engagement.

Some tasks of the role include:

  • Teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including offshore delivery in China
  • Supervising Honours, Master's, and PhD research projects
  • Conducting impactful research with international publication and funding success
  • Contributing to course development and curriculum innovation
  • Promoting a first-rate and inclusive student experience
  • Participating in academic service and community engagement

Permanent role, 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) between our Lincoln Campus and Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, China. You will be teaching abroad in China for up to two semesters per year (eight weeks each). Travel, accommodation and other expenses will be covered whilst abroad.

Salary range as below:

  • Lecturer: Grade A6, $90,834 - $98,283
  • Senior Lecturer: Grade A7, $105,589 - $131,059

You will have:

  • A PhD in ecology, conservation, or a related field
  • An appropriate track record in research and scholarly publication
  • Experience supervising postgraduate students
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across cultures
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to student success
  • Willingness and availability to teach at Huazhong Agricultural University
