Postdoctoral researcher in photoactivated chemotherapy
Photoactivated chemotherapy (PACT) is a new form of phototherapy against cancer. In the frame of an EU-funded translational programme dedicated to developing PACT compounds for eye cancer treatment towards the clinics, the group of Prof. Sylvestre Bonnet is looking for a biologist with proven experience in mice tumor models, interest in patient-derived xenografts, and if possible, a Dutch license 9 to perform animal experiments, to investigate the efficacy and safety of ruthenium-based photoactivated compounds in vivo against uveal melanoma tumors. Project description and responsibilities
The position entails formulation, efficacy, biosafety, and mechanistic studies of ruthenium-based photoactivated chemotherapy treatment of uveal melanoma patient-derived tumor models in mice. You will be integrated in the MCBIM group (https://www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/science/chemistry/mcbim ) and share responsibility of the biological part of the group, with possible involvement in the supervision of 1-2 PhD students. You will work in collaboration with the other members of the PACT4EYE consortium and actively participate to the consortium meetings.
Profile
You will have a PhD in biology, and proven experience with in vivo mice experiment. If possible, you will be familiar with photomedicine, uveal melanoma, patient derived xenografts, and you have a license 9 or are ready to acquire it quickly via proper training. You will participate in a collaborative project involving a company and two medical centres with expertise in eye cancer treatment. Good English skills and a will to work in a multidisciplinary topic are a must.

We offer
The planned starting date is between September 1 and November 1, 2025 (to be discussed). We offer a position for 12 months. You will be appointed in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. The salary ranges from € 4.060,- to € 5.331,- gross per month, depending on experience (pay scale 10).
