Job Type: FullTime

The Laboratory of Cell Differentiation at the Institute of Molecular Genetics (IMG), Prague, seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team. Our research focuses on cellular and developmental biology, utilizing the zebrafish (Danio rerio) model to study cell fate decisions, signaling pathways, and tissue morphogenesis, emphasizing hematopoiesis.

Job description

The successful candidate will be involved in cutting-edge research employing state-of-the-art imaging and genetic tools. Responsibilities include:

  • Zebrafish model research: Handling and maintaining zebrafish lines
  • Generation of transgenic lines: Microinjection-based transgenesis and genome editing
  • Fate-mapping experiments: Lineage tracing of specific cell populations
  • Live imaging & microscopy: Confocal, light-sheet, spinning disk, and stereo microscopy of developing embryos
  • Image & sequencing data analysis: Advanced image processing and high-throughput sequencing data interpretation
  • Primary cell culture: Establishing and maintaining primary cell cultures
  • Functional assays: Phenotype-based experiments using widefield and confocal microscopy, single-cell and high-throughput sequencing
  • Team coordination: Supervising and mentoring 1-2 junior researchers or research associates

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, or related biomedical fields
  • Strong knowledge of cell signaling pathways and developmental processes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and creativity
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in publishing and presenting scientific results at conferences
  • Independence, flexibility, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics (R, Python, Bash/Shell/PowerShell scripting) will be an advantage
