Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science.
The UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science is seeking to recruit a Post-doctoral Researcher in pre-clinical Traumatic brain injury (TBI) research, funded by the Research Ireland Frontiers for the Future Programme. We welcome applications from highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researchers to join a research programme aimed at determining the mechanistic interplay between diet-induced obesity and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets for this patient sub-population. This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.

Fixed Salary: €44,847 Per Annum

Mandatory:
*PhD in Neuroscience or related discipline.
*Demonstrated proficiency in small animal stereotaxic surgical procedures.
*Demonstrated proficiency in preclinical cognitive and neurobehavioral assessment techniques.
*Experience in molecular assessments (flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, PCR, western blot).
*A demonstrated commitment to research and publications.
*An understanding of the operational requirements for a successful research project.
*Evidence of research activity (publications, conference presentations, awards) and future scholarly output (working papers, research proposals, and ability to outline a research project.
*Excellent Communication Skills (Oral, Written, Presentation etc).
*Excellent Organisational and Administrative skills including a proven ability to work to deadlines.
*Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.
Desirable:
*Experience in experimental models of TBI.
*Experience in neuronal/glial cell cultures techniques.
*Experience in metabolomics and/or transcriptomics analysis.
*Experience in setting own research agenda.
