Description of Post

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the iMPROVE project, a €10.1M EU PEACEPLUS-funded initiative led by Ulster University. This role focuses on the development and integration of a REDCap-based electronic health data capture platform, supporting prescribing safety and person-centred care interventions. The successful candidate will work closely with clinical teams, IT professionals, and researchers to ensure seamless data collection, system integration, and follow-up data analysis. They will also play a key role in project coordination, research dissemination, and engagement with stakeholders. 

iMPROVE is a cross-border initiative aiming to enhance prescribing safety for 10,000 people in Northwest Ireland and Tayside, Scotland. The project implements specialist personalised medicine and person-centric care using a disruptive primary care and community-based approach. Participants will undergo a 6- or 12-month intervention focused on optimising prescribed medicines

Please note: The postholder will be based at the ATU Donegal, Letterkenny Campus.

Essential Qualifications

Minimum

  • PhD (or near completion) in Health Informatics, Data Science, Clinical Research, or a related field.
  • Experience with electronic health data capture systems such as REDCap.
  • Knowledge of data management and integration in healthcare settings.
  • Experience in clinical research workflows and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong skills in data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Willingness to engage with clinical teams, policy stakeholders, and research collaborators.

Desirable

  • Strong research profile in health informatics or health data capture and integration platforms.
  • Understanding of clinical processes and terminology.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data regulations (GDPR)
  • Experience in research project management and multi-stakeholder coordination.
  • A publication record in health informatics or data management.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading research teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in education and public engagement activities.
  • Ability to engage and communicate with various stakeholders including academics, policy makers, industry and practitioners.
  • Publication record in related research area and commitment to ongoing research and publications.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Previous experience of coordinating projects and writing project reports.
  • Ability to work independently, using own initiative.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training, when required.
  • Driver’s license.
