UCC wishes to appoint an academic to the role of Lecturer in Spanish (Translation Studies).  Reporting to the Head of the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching (and related administration) of Spanish language, linguistics and culture, as well as to design and deliver research-led content for the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures’ EMT-accredited MA in Translation Studies. They should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field and provide evidence of an emerging research track record involving one or more of the following areas: corpus-based methodologies; the translation profession; discourse analysis in/and translation studies; translation ethics; audiovisual translation studies; cross-disciplinary approaches to translation. We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrable teaching experience in Translation Studies at university level, can show experience of facilitating student learning in virtual as well as face-to-face environments, and are committed to research excellence through the development of ambitious interdisciplinary projects and outputs. Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Spanish, show willingness to work in a collaborative environment and be able to empathise with students. Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Below the Bar) Salary Scale: €41,685 - €71,735 (Scale B) / €43,732 - €68,260 (Scale A).

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
