Description of Post

The appointment for an Assistant Lecturer in Department of Law, Public Service and Education within the Faculty of Business.

The Business Faculty, in addition to undergraduate programmes, offers a range of postgraduate (Masters & Doctorate) programmes which are increasingly differentiated as lifelong learning, practice based and blended/online learning. These programmes are often of a multidisciplinary nature and utilise staff across all departments. The Faculty of Business also has a growing base of doctoral level staff and increasingly is looking to maximise the dissemination of knowledge through publications and conferences.

The Department has a long history in legal education where current offerings include a BA(Hons) in Law with Criminal Justice and an LLB, to which a BA in Corporate Law has now been added.  Our pedagogic approach emphasises experiential learning and the acquisition of transferable skills, appropriate not only to legal practice but a wide range of employment opportunities.  All programmes teach a combination of traditional law subjects, alongside creative and innovative subjects that provide the academic grounding for the skills and attributes of modern lawyers (for example, our Mooting, ADR and Street law modules).  Through our new programme in Corporate Law, we are expanding our law offering to reflect current industry needs.

Successful applicants should have expertise in a range of subject areas across these programmes together with emerging areas in corporate law and technology, and experience working as part of an enthusiastic team.

Please note: The postholder will be based at the ATU Donegal, Letterkenny Campus.
