Research Assistant

[Appointment period: six months]

Duties 

The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “3-D Modelling, Sensing, and Data Intelligence (3MSI) for urban greenery management” in developing algorithms to monitor urban vegetation using LiDAR / remote sensing technology.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    enhance and optimise the LiDAR / remote sensing data processing algorithm to capture the key information of urban vegetation;

(b)    complete point cloud of individual trees from Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS); and

(c)    integrate Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) with MLS data and fusion algorithm development.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a master's degree in Surveying / Remote Sensing / Mathematics / Physics / Biology / Computer Science or an equivalent qualification;

(b)    strong programming skills in any low-level or high-level languages; and

(c)    a strong publication record.

Preference will be given to those with experience in remote sensing data processing, and a strong quantitative background.
