Offer Description
At the Institute of Physics within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Greifswald, a position is available in the Cellular Biophysics research group for earliest possible appointment, subject to budgetary approval, for a
Postdoctoral Fellow (100%)
in a permanent full-time position. Payment will be made according to pay grade 13 TV-L Wissenschaft. The position is also suitable for part-time employment.
Responsibilities:
- Scientific services in research and teaching
- Development of optical and microfluidic methods, including the identification of applications
- Publication of scientific work in international journals
- Supervision of students, including dissertation projects
- Participation in teaching activities
- Acquisition of third-party funding
Job Requirements:
- A completed university degree (master’s or equivalent) in electrical engineering, measurement technology (with a focus on optics), or physics
- A completed doctorate in electrical engineering, measurement technology (with a focus on optics), or physics at the time of employment
- Experience in the development of optical and microfluidic methods for high-speed characterisation of the biophysical properties of biological cells
- Experience in statistical data analysis of biological samples with large sample sizes
- Teaching experience, particularly in physics and biophysics education
- Excellent German language skills (spoken and written), as bachelor’s degree courses in physics are taught in German
- Excellent English language skills (spoken and written), as some master’s degree courses in physics are taught in English
Desired Qualifications:
- Programming skills, particularly in MATLAB, LabView, and R
- Experience with finite element simulations (e.g. Comsol)
- Experience in cell culture
- Willingness to actively supervise dissertation projects and contribute to the long-term projects of the research group
- Willingness to acquire third-party funding and engage in national and international collaborations
