The department of Digital Design and Processing at the Institute of Active Polymers in cooperation with Institute of Material Systems Modeling at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon invite applications for the position of a Research Scientist in Computational Fluid Dynamics. In principle, the position can be also offered as a PhD candidate position.
At the department of Digital Design and Processing, we are working in close collaboration with colleagues at the Charité, Germany?s largest university hospital. Jointly, we are developing clinically led, materials-oriented solutions to key healthcare issues, particularly in the cardiovascular system. Our key objective is developing advanced implants to enhance minimally invasive approaches to treatment of cardiovascular diseases. To this end, in the cooperation with the Institute of Material System Modeling, we aim at developing Digital Twins to accelerate the development of new materials and implants.
Equal opportunity is an important part of our personnel policy. We would therefore strongly encourage qualified women to apply for the position.
Your tasks
#Modeling cardiovascular implants
#Modeling of fluid-structure interactions between blood flow (fluid) and biomedical implant, as well as biological tissue (structure) using smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH)
#Modeling of blood clotting to predict thrombogenicity of cardiovascular implants
#Integration of SPH with peridynamics (PD)
#Implementation of computational models in the open source multiphysics simulation code 4C (developed in C++)
#Cooperation with computational and experimental colleagues to integrate and validate developed models
Your profile
#Master?s or doctoral degree in computational engineering, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics or comparable field
#Strong skills and profound knowledge in computational engineering
#Substantial experience in programming in C++
#Substantial knowledge about Finite Element Method (FEM), Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH), and / or peridynamics
#Solid knowledge in computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
#Experience with high performance (HPC) computing and parallel programming is a plus
#Demonstrated capacity of independent scientific work is a plus
Enquiries regarding this position can be directed to Dr. Katarzyna Polak-Krasna. (Katarzyna.Polak-Krasna@hereon.de ).
We offer
