Offer Description

Reducing the environmental impact of electronics is a major challenge for the future of this sector. Whether it be the production and extraction of materials for the manufacture of electronic components or the manufacturing processes for these components, the consumption of energy, water and toxic products is a major issue.

The aim of this study is to explore the possibility of manufacturing display screens with a low environmental impact. The candidate will focus on the study of emissive materials for the manufacture of OLEDs. The IETR has expertise in the manufacturing processes for OLEDs and, more specifically, in the manufacture of these devices on biosourced substrates. The aim of this study is to integrate biosourced materials for visible light emission into an OLED structure. These materials will be deposited with solution process (inkjet printing) to limit the impact of the manufacturing process (additive process).

- Identify and integrate a series of bio-based materials into a conventional OLED structure and study their electrical and physical properties (i.e. Photoluminescence and Electroluminescence).
- Adjusting the formulation of the inks developed from these materials to be compatible with inkjet printing process.
- Analyze the charge transport properties of these materials in SCLC structures to improve the efficiency of final devices.

The work will be carried out in the IETR's Organic And Silicon Systems (OASiS) department, which has been working for around ten years on the manufacture of electronic devices from organic materials.
Over the last 5 years, this line of research has evolved to reduce the impact of these technologies by giving priority to the use of materials derived from biomass.
The candidate will work closely with the NanoRennes Platform, which has the equipment needed to develop this project.
