Offer Description
The proposed mission is part of the ANR DeepTypo project, which aims to use deep learning models to study the typography of languages. The work will focus on creating a bidirectional system that (i) from an audio recording will predict the speaker's supposed geographical origin and (ii) from a text and a geographical origin will synthesize speech with the corresponding language and accent. Particular attention will be paid to the geographical areas where Creole languages are found to study their spatial relationship with their lexifier language.
* Build predictive models of geolocation from audio recordings.
* Build speech synthesis systems that use coordinates to vary the accent of the speech produced.
* Participate in the scientific activities of the research group (reading group, student assistance, etc.).
Work will take place at the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire des Sciences du Numérique (LISN) on the “Belvédère” site. The successful candidate will join the M3 team (Models, Methods, and Multilingualism) of the STL (Sciences et Technologies du Langage) department. This team specializes in machine learning methods applied to language processing and has extensive experience and international recognition in speech technologies.
