Updated: 39 minutes ago
Deadline: ;

The Microbial Evolutionary Genomics lab (head: Eduardo Rocha) at the Institut Pasteur in
Paris is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in comparative genomics,
computational biology, and molecular evolution. The researcher will work within an
international team to understand the evolution of integrons and other hyper-mobile regions in
genomes. The focus will be on functional innovation, phage-bacteria interactions, and genome
evolution. It will be done in interaction with labs with expertise in vibrio, molecular genetics,
environmental microbiology and phages.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a PhD in genomics, molecular evolution,
microbiology, bioinformatics, or a related field. The candidate should have expertise in microbial
genomics. He/she should be proficient in programming languages commonly used in genomics
research (e.g. Python or R) and have experience in working with bioinformatics software. Good
knowledge of English is necessary. The successful candidate will be able to influence the
direction of the project depending on his/her profile and strengths (including adding a small
experimental component).

The position is funded by the ANR. The monthly salary corresponds to the standard in the
institute (40 320 € to 44 220€ per year before taxes, depending on experience post-PhD) and
includes extended health coverage and other social benefits. The contract will be for 24 months,
renewable. The position is available from September 2025, but the exact starting date is
negotiable. Institut Pasteur has a dynamic and diverse scientific environment at the center of
Paris. It has a service to support postdocs’ career development and a diversity-friendly
environment.

To apply (or request information) send an email to Eduardo Rocha with [Postdoc call] in the
subject line and a single PDF document with: (1) a detailed CV including the full publication list,
(2) a cover letter explaining motivation, research interests, skills and experience relevant to the
position (1-2 pages), and (3) up to three names and contacts of researchers that can
be references of your work. First round of applications’ evaluation will take place the 10th of May
2025 the latest.
