Offer Description

You want to get involved in an exploratory research project?

Join the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal (CRPP ) – of the University of Bordeaux!

This laboratory is a joint unit of the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux. It consists of six research teams and several common services. Its research activities are based on three complementary axes with a strong multidisciplinary aspect: soft matter, functional materials and interface with biology.

As part of the Interdisciplinary and Exploratory Network «FM-MOFs», we are recruiting a Post-Doctoral Researcher whose work will focus on the creation and study of new magnetic coordination polymers.

The objective of this research project is to combine the versatility of the chemistry of organic metal networks with the richness of the physics of frustrated magnetism to open new avenues for quantum research.

Main activities:

Your mission will be to prepare and study new magnetic coordination polymers with geometries that can lead to exotic quantum properties (such as spin liquids) and adjustable through the flexibility of molecular chemistry.

# Experiments

  • You perform synthesis in organic and coordination molecular chemistry
  • You perform structural and spectroscopic characterizations
  • You study magnetic and thermodynamic properties and propose interpretations of them

# Dissemination

  • You analyze and present the results
  • You contribute to the writing of scientific articles

You will also be involved in supervising Master’s students on internship and PhD students.

The + of this position: you will benefit from the close partnership of the project members and their strong expertise on experimental and theoretical aspects. The highly interdisciplinary project is at the crossroads of different scientific fields in chemistry and physics to create new quantum materials

Additional comments

By joining this research group, you will join the CRPP’s Molecular Materials and Magnetism (M3 ) team, a pioneer in the field of molecular magnets [Science 370, 587-592 (2020)]. You will work closely with physicists from the Laboratoire Onde Matière Aquitaine (LOMA ) who will establish with the chemists the type of geometry to be achieved in synthetic chemistry to create frustrated magnetic networks [PNAS 2022,119 (5) e2117453119]. The close collaboration between chemists and physicists on this rapidly growing field of research opens up enormous opportunities to discover exotic phases of matter.
