Offer Description

We are looking for a physicist for a two- to three-year postdoctoral contract as part of the ERC SyG PEPS project. The aim of the project is to model, using biophysical methods, the spatio-temporal dynamics of cellular interactions and state changes underlying the dynamic homeostasis of the forebrain neural stem cell population.

- main role: to develop a model of the stem cell system based on cellular interactions mediated by the Notch signaling pathway, using a “lattice” spatial representation and a simple lineage progression inferred by morphometric and functional criteria (agent-based modeling and differential equations).
- main role: to progressively complexify the cellular states in this model by integrating continuous cell trajectory data revealed by transcriptomics (partial differential equations and compartmentalized structure).
- main role: to work at the interface with biologists to confront models with the results of induced biological perturbations, and to infer, using the models, new cellular interactions or new parameters for changes in cellular state, which can then be tested experimentally.

The laboratory is located at Institut Pasteur, CNRS UMR3738 (Developmental and Stem Cell Biology). It currently has a staff of 14 (3 postdocs, 2 PhD students, 3 CNRS researchers, 5 engineers, 1 animal technician).
The laboratory studies neural stem cells using the zebrafish brain as a model. We aim to understand how cell division and differentiation choices are regulated and coordinated.
