Offer Description

The work will be carried out at the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal (CRPP), a CNRS physico-chemistry laboratory located in Pessac and affiliated with the University of Bordeaux. The CRPP's research activities focus on soft matter, materials science, and biotechnology.

The laboratory has 150 employees, including students, postdoctoral researchers, permanent researchers, as well as administrative and technical staff.

Our carbon nanotube and graphene group consists of 15 people and benefits from over 20 years of expertise in the physical chemistry of nanocarbons, nanocomposites, polymers, and electrochemistry.

The project aims to develop electroconductive fluids containing anisotropic particles. Their novelty lies in the formation of dynamic networks that establish themselves within fluid flow. We plan to validate fundamental hypotheses related to the out-of-equilibrium percolation of anisotropic particles in flowing systems. This fundamental knowledge acquisition will enable the proposal of new concepts for the development of conductive fluids with low viscosity, high, and tunable conductivity.

Carbon microfibers will be synthesized via a hydrothermal route and used as conductive Brownian particles. The structure, rheological properties, and electrical characteristics of the suspensions will be analyzed under various flow conditions, ranging from dilute to concentrated regimes, including liquid crystal phases. The work will be primarily experimental, covering everything from the chemical formulation of materials to their physical and structural characterization.

The fundamental insights gained from this project will be valuable for applications such as flow capacitors, water desalination, and flexible electronics
