Job Description
Do you have solid laboratory experience in gas and liquid phase spectroscopy and physical chemistry combined with the opportunity to plan and manage your work independently? Would you also like a diverse job where you can develop your skills with particular focus on research? We are seeking an academic employee with minimum a M.Sc. degree in a physical or chemical discipline and with experience in spectroscopic methods to join our research team.
Your new workplace is DTU Offshore – Danish Offshore Technology Centre – which is Denmark’s national R&D center for offshore technologies and holds a central position in the energy transition. We develop research-based technology solutions for the industry in the North Sea.
The job
The core of your job is to assist researchers in planning and conducting their experiments. You will organize the experiments in close dialogue with the researchers and conduct experiments on advanced equipment independently in collaboration with the research manager. The majority of the projects in the group are related to water treatment and analysis in connection with subsurface energy storage. You will be involved with:
- Commissioning, calibrating, and operating our analytical state-of-the-art equipment.
- Running and maintenance of advanced spectroscopic and analytical equipment
- Consultancy to support modelling projects and calculations
- Co-writing guidelines and reports
- Specialist role in projects relating to water management and energy storage
- Supporting students with technical assistance
- Making chemical risk assessments and technical solutions for analytical equipment
You will also guide and train new employees, students, and others in using equipment in the laboratory. Some active academic participation in ongoing research projects is envisioned.
Our expectations of you
We are looking for someone who has the ability to organize and manage their work independently while thriving in a multidisciplinary team.
- Degree in chemistry, physical chemistry, physics or relevant engineering discipline. M.Sc. or Ph.D. level.
- Expertise in spectroscopic methods including FT-IR, ICP-OES and Raman spectroscopy required.
- Experience with other analytical techniques is an advantage.
- 5+ years of laboratory experience.
- Excellent English skills, both oral and written
What we offer in return
DTU Offshore is a research center with a central role in energy transition. We conduct research aimed at the responsible use of resources in the offshore subsurface, including decommissioning of hydrocarbon production, underground gas storage, environmental impact of subsurface energy resources and water management in the Danish part of the North Sea.
The center was established as a partnership between several research institutions in Denmark in close collaboration with industry, and continues to nurture an ecosystem of partners with focus on applied research. This ecosystem is crucial for achieving our goals in the energy transition, and a strong focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing is our ethos.
Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as an Academic Officer.
