Job Description: Graduate Research Assistant Education

Description: The Research Assistant will support the Decolonizing Nigeria's History Participatory Research Project (Internal SSHD – InfoEd: 104946)

Qualifications

- Enrolled as a Doctoral Student in Education

- Ability to work independently and autonomously with minimal supervision.

- Meticulous planning skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet critical deadlines

- Creativity and problem-solving skills

- Community-oriented, able to reach out to and engage with diverse audiences

- Strong awareness of international education

- Strong writing skills

Responsibilities

- Collection, sorting and classification of curriculum materials

- Conduct a Critical Discourse Analysis of history textbooks

- Draw out themes, examine discourse, and relate it to existing literature and place

within the relevant theoretical frameworks.

- Complete a detailed annotated review of literature and the write up of a detailed literature and theoretical overview

- Assist with the development of one grant proposal

- Collaborate on a co-authored article as 2nd author

Qualifications Required (skills and abilities, education, language skills):

- Ability to work independently and autonomously with minimal supervision.

- Meticulous planning skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet critical deadlines

- Creativity and problem-solving skills

- Community-oriented, able to reach out to and engage with diverse audiences.

Education/experience requirements:

- Master’s or Ph.D. student or possessing a Master’s or PhD

- Education leadership/education policy studies are an asset.

Additional qualifying skills and abilities:

- Critical discourse analysis, MAXQDA
