Department of Biology (Professor Jon Sakata)
Position Summary:
- Participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments, including, behavioral and immunocytochemical experiments.
- Participates in small animal handling and husbandry.
- Helps maintain information about breeding colony and bird health.
- Assists in recording results, performing calculations and compiling data.
- Helps maintain records and files.
- Helps train new lab members in laboratory techniques.
- Contributes to equipment maintenance, minor repairs, and arranges for servicing.
- Participates in maintaining cleanliness and safety of the work area.
- Helps to ensure compliance with safety regulations in the use of equipment.
- Helps to ensure proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Helps to maintain inventory, purchasing of equipment and materials.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- Attention to detail .
- Proficiency with Excel, Google sheets, or related.
- Available on weekends.
- Training in wet lab procedures (e.g., histology, tissue sectioning).
MUST BE WORK STUDY ELIGIBLE at MCGILL UNIVERSITY. Only Work Study students will be considered.
Education/Experience:
- Experience working with live animals.
- Background in biology, psychology, neuroscience and/or behavior.
Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (4) qualifier on a scale of 0-4".
