Position Description
The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IMI-BAS) announces 2 postdoc positions (R2 - Recognized Researcher) as part of the Research Group of Milen Yakimov holding a Chair at the International Center for Mathematical Sciences – Sofia (ICMS-Sofia). The positions are affiliated with ICMS-Sofia and are financially supported by a Simons Foundation grant and funds from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The positions are in the areas of Cluster Algebras and Quantum Groups. Cluster Algebras, introduced by Sergey Fomin and Andrey Zelevinsky 25 years ago, turned into an indispensable tool in numerous areas of Mathematics and Mathematical Physics. Researchers in all aspects of Cluster Algebras will be considered for the positions. Quantum Groups have revolutionized many areas of Mathematics and Mathematical Physics in the last 40 years. Researchers in this area will be expected to have knowledge of the aspects of Quantum Groups associated to Representation Theory, Tensor Categories, Poisson Geometry or Mathematical Physics. The candidates need to provide a CV, a publication list, a research plan, and 3 recommendation letters. The selection process will begin on March 1, 2025 and continue until the positions are filled. The preferred start date for the positions is May 15, but is flexible.
