COMPETITION UNDER THE NATIONAL PROGRAM “YOUNG SCIENTISTS AND POSTDOCTORAL STUDENTS – 2”, 2025

 

In connection with the National Program “Young Scientists and Postdoctoral Students – 2” of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov” – Varna announces competitions in the following areas for:

POSTDOCTORAL STUDENTS POSITIONS

• Medicine

The monthly remuneration of newly appointed postdoctoral students for an eight-hour working day is €1000 - €1,500 (including insurance installments funds paid by the employer and for additional remuneration for obtained PhD degree) for a period of up to 8 months;

- up to 85% of the module funds can be spent for basic monthly remuneration;

- up to 15% of the project funds can be spent for mobility: business trips (travel, daily and accommodation expenses), field work, fees for participation in scientific forums;

– up to 25% of the project funds can be spent for materials necessary for conducting the scientific research.

Eligibility

Applicants for this module can be scholars who have obtained a first PhD degree.

Within the course of their participation in the Program, the applicants shall meet the required definition of a postdoctoral student: a scholar who has obtained their first PhD degree within the last five years.

For this module applicants shall submit a project proposal that meets the following requirements: it shall cover a well-grounded current issue elaborated in academic style, with a detailed work schedule and a financial plan for the project period. The proposal shall be submitted in English.

The activities related to the implementation of the applicant's project proposal were not, cannot and should not be planned to be financed from other sources, including under procedures: "Building and development of centers of competence", "Building and development of centers of excellence", National scientific programs as well as other national or foreign sources.

1. Application for participation in the competition (by model);

2. Project proposal (by model);

3. CV (EUROPASS format);

4. Scanned copy of a first PhD diploma;

5. Cover letter including information on areas of scientific interest (The letter is addressed to the Competition Commission) - up to 1 standard page, Times New Roman font, size 12

6. Description of the candidate's previous scientific work – up to 500 words;

7. List of research results:

• Publications;
• Scientific conferences participation;
• Research projects participation;

8. Other materials proving the professional qualities of the applicant at his discretion, received in the last three years (from 2022 - present);

9. Awards and certificates related to scientific activity received in the last three years (from 2022 - present);

10. Declaration In relation to avoiding double funding and transparent selection (by model) - to be completed upon appointment.

 

Researchers who do not have an employment relationship with MU-Varna at the time of submitting the documents need to indicate a contact for the recommendation – name, position and email of the person. Such a contact can only be a habilitated person from MU-Varna, indicating which faculty and department the person is from.
