Offer Description

We are seeking a highly motivated research scientist to lead an original project in cancer genomics and tumor evolution, focusing on viral models of leukemia and lymphoma. This role places a strong emphasis on bioinformatics analysis of available next-generation sequencing (NGS) datasets. The position is part of a joint initiative between the Laboratory of Viral Oncogenesis at the Jules Bordet Cancer Institute (Institut Jules Bordet, BCRL) in Brussels and the HTLV-1/BLV Genomics Team within the Unit of Animal Genomics at the GIGA Research Institute, University of Liège, Belgium. Under the guidance of Dr. Anne Van den Broeke, the research focuses on tumor evolution in delta-retroviral cancer models. This includes Human T-cell leukemia virus-1 (HTLV-1)-induced T-cell leukemia/lymphoma in patients, alongside a unique large-animal cancer model utilizing Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) in sheep.

You will join a high-quality genomics research environment with expertise in both medical and animal genomics. State-of-the-art core facilities provide an excellent platform for fostering collaboration and driving innovation. We are looking for candidates with a passion for scientific discovery, a strong background in bioinformatics, and a desire to advance our understanding of cancer biology.

Requirements

A PhD or a master degree in bioinformatics, genomics, medicine, veterinary medicine or other relevant research field with a strong background in bioinformatics. Experience in data analysis and bioinformatics is required, with proficiency in programming and statistics. Knowledge of cancer genomics, documented experience in WGS analysis, single-cell NGS technologies and animal models of HTLV-1 and/or BLV are an asset. A good level of organizational and communicative skills, as well as an ability to independently perform experiments and implement interpretation of data is mandatory. Proficiency in English.
