Job description 

The position is open to a person wishing to start a new doctoral project. 
The successful candidate will join the prestigious ARC ‘Di-Fic’ project, which aims to use audiovisual fiction (films, series, video games) to stimulate digital education. More specifically, the successful candidate will use their expertise in information systems and digital transformation to develop a tool to support the integration of fiction (e.g. Terminator, Black Mirror, Her, etc.) in the classroom.

Academic environment 

The Université de Namur welcomes nearly 7,000 students each year to its 60 bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes. More than 700 of the University's 1,200 employees are actively involved in research through 64 laboratories and research centres. The Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Business Administration has nearly 1,400 students and 170 employees, including 85 academics and 70 scientists.

The Faculty offers full-time and part-time bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and doctorates in management and economics. It also runs programmes in political science and communication studies. Its members undertake research in various areas of expertise.

The person hired will also join the Namur Digital Institute (NaDI). At NaDI, researchers provide innovative solutions to the new societal challenges posed by the digital revolution (eGov, eHealth, eServices, Big Data, etc.). Coming from a variety of disciplines, the researchers combine their scientific skills in IT, ethics, law, management and human sciences. They cover topics such as smart cities and e-government, software and systems, innovation and services, the collaborative economy, artificial intelligence, security and privacy, IT law and the societal impact of technologies.

Skills/Qualifications

Those who apply will have, or will have by September 2025, a master's degree in economics or management, management engineering, computer science or data science (or equivalent). 

They must have a good command of spoken and written French and English. Knowledge of Dutch will be considered a plus. 
They must have excellent communication and project management skills. 
    
We are looking for a candidate interested in research rooted in the digital transformation of education, and interested in mobilising fiction as an interdisciplinary theme.
