University Professorship for Solid State Process Engineering

We are looking for an outstandingly qualified and scientifically proven person who is committed to representing the specialist focus of solid process engineering in research and teaching. The focus is  on experimental and/or model-based approaches for applications in the field of particle technology (from nano- to macroscopic), fine chemistry, building materials, pharmaceutical technology, environmental technology applications, formulation/particle design, as well as particle measurement technology and analysis. A particular focus on the design, optimization and control of particle-based processes would be desirable (process engineering focus) . The research of the position holder should strengthen and complement the existing focus areas of the faculty's institutes , for example in the field of pharmaceutical particle and process technology, in the field of materials for environmental technology applications, process engineering and description of fiber-based materials,  formulation/particle design, as well as particle measurement technology and analysis.

Ideally, the applicant's research focus will be in the areas of  process engineering of solid-state processes (organic and inorganic particles), measurement technology, process control, modeling and particle engineering.

Close cooperation between related research areas and research centers at TU GRAZ (e.g. FoEs & Comet centers) as well as with NAWI Graz and BioTechMed Graz (cooperation between universities) is expected.

In teaching, the aim is to expand the area of ​​mechanical process engineering/particle technology and to introduce new aspects into research-led teaching and to convey these in bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs.


Employment requirements
  • A university education appropriate to the position, including a completed doctorate (PhD).
  • Outstanding and independent scientific qualifications in research, preferably proven by a habilitation (venia docendi) or equivalent scientific achievements.
  • Proven didactic skills for adequate implementation of teaching at Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral level.
  • The qualification for management (strategy, personnel and process development).

Also expected are
  • Experience in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects in application or contract research, or relevant industry experience.
  • Ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate within and outside the university.
  • Competencies in the area of ​​gender and diversity and knowledge of the special needs of people with disabilities.

  • Your CV describing your previous research and teaching activities and the type and extent of your leadership experience (including copies of diplomas and relevant certificates).
  • Your complete publication list with the 5 most important publications marked
  • Your 5 outstanding publications in full text (appendix or other access data).
  • Your research concept (5 pages max.) with a description of the planned future activities.
  • Your teaching statement (2 pages max. with teaching statement and teaching profile, if not included in the CV) as well as any teaching evaluations or teaching certificates.
  • A concept (2 pages max.) for the strategic orientation and development of your future team.
  • Names and contact details of two reference persons.

The relocation of the center of life (main residence) to the greater Graz area is required.

In order to represent the subject internationally, very good written and spoken English skills are required. If you do not already have knowledge of German, you are expected to be willing to learn German.
