Scientific Profile

We are seeking a highly qualified individual with a proven track record of outstanding scientific achievements in experimental Physical Chemistry. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in chemistry, which is essential for advancing concepts in Physical Chemistry through both independent and collaborative experimental research. It is expected that the field of Physical Chemistry will be represented in both research and teaching in its full scope, from Bachelor's and Master's programs to doctoral supervision, and that course content will be delivered with both subject matter expertise and didactical competence. A demonstrated ability to secure research funding (from competitive calls) and to conduct independent, self-sustaining research in the field is essential. A valuable complement or expansion of existing research fields is desirable.

The successful candidate is expected to engage actively in interdisciplinary cooperation within our institutes and be proactive in strengthening cross-faculty initiatives within the Fields of Expertise “Advanced Materials Science” and/or “Human and Biotechnology” of Graz University of Technology and within the cooperation NAWI Graz.

Employment Requirements

  • Completed university degree (MSc) in Chemistry (or in a related field), completed PhD in Chemistry (or in a related field).
  • Proven record of excellence in research.
  • Excellence in teaching, demonstrated by a habilitation or an equivalent qualification, at the Bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral levels.
  • Experience in the acquisition and handling of third-party funded projects from competitive calls or procedures.
  • Management and leadership abilities (strategy, personnel, and process development).

Selection Criteria

  • Academic and research credentials (high-impact peer-reviewed papers, invited presentations at international conferences, awards and peer recognitions).
  • Expertise in the application of spectroscopic techniques for research purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Physical Chemistry comprehensively.
  • Demonstrated history of successful collaborations, willingness for cooperation within and outside the university.
  • Group leading and mentoring experience.
  • Excellent proficiency in English and German, both written and spoken, to conduct research and teaching within the German-taught Bachelor's program in "Chemie" as well as in the English-taught Master's and PhD programs at Graz University of Technology.
  • Competences in Gender and Diversity, and knowledge about the special needs of people with disabilities.

  • Your research concept (5 pages max.) describing future activities in Graz including possible collaborations with existing research groups at TU Graz
  • Your teaching concept (2 pages max.) and past teaching evaluations (if possible) or teaching certificates (if available)
  • A concept (2 pages max.) for the strategic orientation and development of your future team.

Centre Of Vital Interest

Relocation of the future professor to the greater Graz area (main residence) is required.

Language Skills

Excellent written and spoken German and English language skills are expected.
