• Salary Package: From $96,273 - $106,270 (HEW Level 6), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading
• Appointment Type: Part-time (0.8 – 1.0 FTE), one year fixed term role
• Location: Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN) office, Geelong, Victoria, with travel to Macquarie University (North Ryde) as required.
The Role
The Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) is seeking an experienced Research Officer for an innovative project that aims to increase vaccination uptake in primary care for vulnerable populations. The Research Officer will be seconded to the Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN) office in Geelong, Victoria. Thy will work closely with investigators, clinicians, healthcare consumers, and stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate strategies that make a tangible difference in community health outcomes.
About You
You will:
• Help develop, implement, and evaluate tailored strategies to increase vaccination rates for COVID-19, influenza, pneumococcus, and shingles in primary care settings.
• Engage in co-design processes with healthcare consumers to create impactful, patient-centred interventions.
• Collect, analyse, and synthesize data to assess project effectiveness.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and healthcare stakeholders.
• Contribute to ethics applications, peer-reviewed publications, and public presentations.
You will reside in or close to the Western Victoria Primary Health Network catchment for the duration of the project.
About Us
The Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) is part of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science at Macquarie University. Since 1991, CHRIS has led impactful research into healthcare policy, leadership and implementation science. In collaboration with Western Victoria Primary Health Net (WVPHN), this project aligns with our mission to enhance health outcomes through evidence-based research and implementation. Primary Health Networks were launched in 2015 to support general practice, commission services into gaps and support integration across the health system. Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN) supports the region’s primary health sector, encompassing 225 general practices, 163 pharmacies, 137 aged care facilities, and a variety of health services across 21 local government areas. Our population density ranges from sub-metro (Geelong) to regional (Ballarat) and includes parts of Victoria rated as remote (West Wimmera and Yarriambiack).You will work within the First Nations, Public Health and Equity team which envisages health care that engages and empowers people, delivered widely equitably, safely and competently.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
Masters degree (or equivalent experience) in public health, health services research, service evaluation, medical science, or related discipline.
Demonstrated research experience (preferably conducted within a University or Medical Research Institute).
Demonstrated understanding of the Australian primary healthcare system.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets, database programs, statistics and word processing.
Some understanding of qualitative health or mixed methods research.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria:
Demonstrated attention to detail and experience in data auditing, quality assurance and control.
Demonstrated understanding of regional and rural health services.
Demonstrated understanding of health equity and research in vulnerable populations.
