Base Salary $109,301 - $173,492 (Level A/B/C) p.a + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The School of Psychology at the University of Sydney are currently seeking two experienced Research Associates / Research Fellows in Child Mental Health. The Research Fellow will conduct research into childhood trauma and adversity based on a 2-year national project funded by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF), in the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney.
This project will develop innovative clinical assessment practices for use with families of children who have experienced trauma and adversity, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Research methods incorporate the large-scale collection and analysis of psychometric/normative data, as well as intensive co-design and qualitative interviewing.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
coordinate major aspects of this exciting project, communicating with stakeholders across multiple institutions
develop and implement research procedures with vulnerable families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (e.g., online data-collection; parent interviews; co-design)
data management and analysis, literature reviews, writing publications
ensure that research ethics requirements and standards are met for the project
exercise a high degree of initiative and judgement in coordinating multiple activities concurrently, contributing to the management and supervision of junior researchers, and resolving complex issues associated with project delivery
work with a range of staff across multiple project teams and stakeholders in the University environment to meet objectives
use previous project management and administration experience, the Fellow will resolve issues and utilise knowledge of project management to be successful in the role.
About you

a PhD in psychology or related health disciplines
experience conducting and publishing child mental health research
skills engaging and interviewing parents/caregivers in vulnerable families (in codesign or other research)
skills working with large data sets, including data management and current best-practice statistical methods (including that relevant to measurement/psychometric research)
knowledge of current literature regarding trauma, adversity and mental health
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve required outcomes.
