Lead the research agenda and research workforce in the area of First Nations maternal, infant and child health at Charles Darwin University (CDU)
About the Position
The Molly Wardaguga Institute for First Nations Birth Rights (Molly Institute) was established in honour of the Burarra Elder and midwife, Molly Wardaguga (1938-2009), who worked extensively to improve health outcomes, with a vision of returning the control of First Nations birthing services to First Nations communities. The Institute works toward Molly’s vision by supporting First Nations communities to realise their aspirations for birthing and maternal healthcare.
As a Professor in Health Services Redesign, you will lead the research agenda and research workforce in the area of First Nations maternal, infant and child health. Providing leadership and advice to the Director in order to advance the research agenda of the Institute and University will be key in leading research methods and methodologies in line with First Nations ‘ways’.
About You
To be successful, you will require:
A PhD in a health or related field and extensive experience in First Nations health with a focus on maternal, infant and/or child health and health service design/redesign Extensive research experience and recognition as an eminent authority at national and international level, including publications, external grants, and consultancies Sustained and distinguished performance with a proven track record of research publications and working successfully with research teams. Demonstrated experience working with First Nations communities using a multi-disciplinary approach in co-design, conduct, analysis and research translation that meet ethical and scientific standards. Extensive research project management experience that demonstrates high level organisational skills to set priorities, undertake multiple tasks and work in a flexible, productive, and pro-active manner Proven experience working effectively with First Nations people and communities which demonstrates leading culturally safe practice to meet the expectations of First Nations peoples especially in the area of Indigenous data sovereignty principles. Demonstrated written communication skills with the ability to write and finalise project reports, ethics and governance applications, and funding applications, conference papers and articles for submission to peer reviewed journals Demonstrated experience in supervising and graduating postgraduate students at Honours, Masters and PhD level.

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Research Focused Academic Level E. The base salary will be $189,150 per annum. The total remuneration package will $221,305 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
