We now have an exciting, fixed term opportunity for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented HR Assistant to join our HR Administration team.

  • Fulltime 36.25hrs per week
  • Fixed Term until June 2026
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus
  • $68,694.55 - $72,973.30 per year plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
  • 3% pay rise on 1 July 2025

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the first point of contact for HR administrative matters, you will provide high-quality customer-focused services and support for JCU employees to enable the delivery of efficient HR information processing and compliance. You will refer to established JCU policies and procedures to assist with administrative processing and general enquiries, ensuring work is completed in a timely, accurate and professional manner. Tasks and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Undertake timely and accurate processing and data entry tasks using JCU HR systems, e.g. new and variations to appointments; resignations; position establishment updates.
  • Assist in the review of documentation to ensure compliance with university and legislative requirements.
  • Supporting the casual recruitment process and immigration requirements in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition team.
  • Maintain accurate staff records across multiple systems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Qualifications related to the role or a combination of relevant education/training and HR or data entry experience.
  • Routine organisational and time management skills with ability to use informed judgement to prioritise and meet competing deadlines.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills including interpersonal skills, to a deliver customer centric service with positive outcomes. 
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out routine tasks autonomously and work effectively as part of a team to achieve outcomes.
  • Effective computer and data entry skills using the Microsoft Office suite and other specialist HR related software, with a high attention to detail.
